SALT LAKE CITY — Police are now investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a Salt Lake City a motel room Tuesday morning as a homicide.

In a tweet posted Tuesday evening, Salt Lake City police say they're looking for two "persons of interest: Kristie Marie Hansen, 26, and Javier Rodriguez Pena, 29." Photos of the two were also included in the tweet.

No further details on the crime were made available.

Salt Lake police detective Greg Wilking said officers responded to a report of a suspicious death at the Gateway Inn, 819 W. North Temple, shortly after 8:40 a.m.

Wilking said the initial call came from someone who spotted the body from outside the room.

"At this point, it doesn't look like drug overdose or a natural death," he said Tuesday morning. "It looks suspicious to us, so we called out our homicide investigators and we're canvassing the area looking to talk to anybody who may know something about what took place here."

The woman's name had not yet been released to the media Tuesday night. Wilking said it was unknown how long the woman had been staying at the motel.

Anyone with information about Hansen or Pena, or the crime itself, is encouraged to call police at 801-799-3000.

Editors note: Police initially released a wrong spelling of Javier Rodriguez Pena's name and it has since been corrected.
