MAGNA — A 29-year-old man is dead after being stabbed multiple times at a gas station Friday morning, and another man was arrested Friday afternoon in connection with the incident, police said late Friday night.

Police responded to a report of a stabbing at a Shell gas station located at 7210 W. 3500 South at approximately 11:50 a.m., Unified Police Lt. Brian Lohkre said.

They found Eugene Rowland with multiple stab wounds. He was transported to Intermountain Medical Center where he later died.

Lohrke said police interviewed witnesses and reviewed security camera footage of the area. Later in the afternoon, they located 44-year-old Jose Hernandez at his residence in West Valley City and arrested him.

Hernandez was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on investigation of murder, Lohrke said.

Detectives are not looking for any other suspects in this crime.

Police are still investigating a motive but say it does not appear to be gang related, Lohrke said. He said Rowland and Hernandez knew each other and have had disagreements in the past few weeks. Detectives believe that may have led to Friday's incident.
