(KSL News) Authorities spent hours in the Jordan River last night to free a stuck horse.

A woman was riding the horse on a cement bridge across the Jordan River near 750 South Redwood Road when it got spooked by a piece of cardboard.
The horse's owner, Becky Tietze, explained, "She saw that and thought it was a horse-killing piece of cardboard and tried to back up. We went right over."

Neither was hurt in the fall, but the horse couldn't get up the steep banks.
Crews worked for about three hours, using ropes and pulleys to pull the 1,500 pound animal out of the water. She was taken to a veterinarian to be treated for hypothermia and fatigue.
