(KSL News) A Salt Lake County man accused of a brutal attack that left one man dead has pleaded guilty to the charges against him.
Yesterday Christopher Allen Hewitt pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree felony murder and one count of third-degree felony assault in connection with the beating of two men last August in Neff's Canyon.
Hewitt knew both men. His attorneys claimed he was mentally ill at the time of the beatings. However, a competency evaluation disagreed with that assertion.
Hewitt could face 15 years to life in prison when he is sentenced in November.
