SALT LAKE CITY — Police made an arrest Thursday in connection with the killing of an 18-year-old man over the weekend.

Landon Johnson, 20, was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for the investigation of murdering 18-year-old Eric Padilla on Saturday, according to Salt Lake police.

Investigators believe Padilla was killed while visiting a friend at the Sky Harbor Apartments, 221 N. Sun Harbor Terrace. Someone knocked at the door there and Padilla was shot after going to the doorway, Salt Lake Police Sgt. Brandon Shearer said earlier this week.

Padilla is not believed to be the intended target. His friend was not injured.

Salt Lake police said Thursday that the incident was a home invasion. When he was arrested, Johnson was still in possession of some belongings he had stolen in that incident, the agency said.

Other details about the arrest were not immediately known.
