(KSL News) -- News is filtering out that the most famous pirate in the world--Captain Jack Sparrow and his beloved Black Pearl--made port last week on the Bonneville Salt Flats.

Johnny Depp and the crew of the blockbuster movie sailed into the Salt Flats as stealthily as the Black Pearl came into Port Royal.

Disney didn't "alert the media," wanting to avoid paparazzi and devoted fans of Captain Jack from disrupting their tight shooting schedule.

Utah's Film Commission director says they've been working on enticing "Pirates" to shoot on the Salt Flats for a couple of years and it finally all just came together. He says the "Pirates" crew was in Utah for a week getting the location ready. Depp and company filmed Thursday and part of Friday.

They won't tell us how the Salt Flats fits into "Pirates 3," but one of the publicists for the movie said the bright-white desert landscape of the Salt Flats was a perfect location for what they needed.

Depp was the only star on deck as the Black Pearl weighed anchor on the Utah location.

"Pirates 3" is scheduled to be released May of 2007.
