OGDEN — A 29-year-old man critically injured in a shooting in Ogden Friday afternoon has died from his injuries, and two men were booked into Weber County Jail in connection to the shooting, Ogden City Police said Saturday morning.
The incident happened at a residence Friday afternoon near 500 East and 31st Street around 2:40 p.m. The victim, who has been identified by Ogden Police Saturday afternoon as Miguel Angel Rios, was taken to a hospital with critical injuries and later died from those injuries at the hospital, Ogden Police Lt. Cline said officers were alerted that two suspects ran from the residence of the shooting to a residence near 30th Street and Porter Ave. That's when a search warrant was served at the residence by the Ogden Metro SWAT, where the two men were arrested.
Afterward, one was arrested for the homicide and the other on related charges.
Devin Smith, 19, was booked into Weber County Jail on suspicion of criminal homicide, a first-degree felony, obstruction of justice, a second-degree felony and possession of a firearm of a restricted person, a third-degree felony.
Jeremy Moncada, 19, was booked on suspicion of obstruction of justice and possession of a firearm of a restricted person.
"Both suspects have a documented gang history and the suspects believed the victim claimed a rival gang," police said.
