SALT LAKE — A woman was in critical condition Monday after jumping off the I-15 collector.

Just before 10 a.m., Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said a woman pulled over while driving in the "Spaghetti Bowl," on the fly-over ramp from westbound I-80 to go to westbound state Route 201.

"Witnesses stated she walked approximately 100 feet from where she parked and jumped off the structure," he said.

The woman fell approximately 35 feet, hitting the I-15 collector below near 2150 South. The freeway was shut down as a medical helicopter landed and took the woman to University Hospital. Royce said she was transported in critical condition.

The woman's name and age were not immediately available.
