DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The Rev. Franklin Graham says the prayer rallies he's staging in every state this election year have his father's full support.
At the first rally Tuesday outside Iowa's state Capitol, the son of evangelist Billy Graham said America has declined so much morally that his 97-year-old father would be leading the rallies himself if he was part of a younger generation.
Franklin Graham said that when his father went to school, the Ten Commandments were on the classroom wall and teachers led students in the Lord's Prayer.
Billy Graham no longer travels or preaches, but Franklin Graham says his father continues to pray for America and fully supports this year's prayer rallies.
The younger Graham has two rallies scheduled next week, outside the state capitols of Florida and Louisiana.
In Iowa he refused to endorse candidates or parties, but urged Christians to vote for the most biblically sound candidates and consider running for office themselves.
Sound: Upcoming
