SALT LAKE CITY — It was a busy week in Las Vegas for the Utes and the Cougars. From "dirty" comments, trash talk, a coaching search and ... oh, a football game.
After so much speculation, BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe announced about an hour after the game ended that former Cougar fullback and Utah defensive coordinator Kalani Sitake would be the program's next head coach.
In his final game as head coach of BYU, Bronco Mendenhall said Saturday's Las Vegas Bowl would go down in history as one of the all-time great matchups. The game was good ... but the pregame talk may have been even better, starting with defensive lineman Seni Faounuku's welcome reception speech to punter Tom Hackett's colorful Aussie flair the night before the game.
