WEST JORDAN — A 19-year-old West Jordan man was arrested Wednesday after members of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force allegedly found child pornography on his computer.
In addition, investigators learned Elijah William Roberts also allegedly sexually abused a 14-year-old boy and was living with young children in his residence, according to a Salt Lake County Jail report.
Because of the egregious nature of his alleged crimes, the Utah Attorney General's Office arrested him immediately, booked him into the Salt Lake County Jail and requested a higher than normal bail of $1 million, according to the jail report.
The investigation began Aug. 12 when DropBox notified the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that 12 images and videos of child porn had been uploaded to a DropBox account. The center in turn contacted Utah investigators.
A search warrant was served on the DropBox account, according to the jail report. Investigators found more than 100 child porn videos and more than 30 child porn pictures, "most of which are in bondage," the report stated.
Another search warrant was served Wednesday in West Jordan where Roberts was arrested.
