LOGAN, Utah (AP) -- Utah State University may be one of the safer places to get a college education.
Crime statistics for 2007 show campus crime rates are on the decline, although police are being asked for assistance more often.
Capt. Steve Milne says the department has seen a drop in the number of arrests -- 50 fewer in 2007 -- related to theft and alcohol-related crimes. Assaults were also down, with just four cases. That's down from 11 in 2006.
Overall more than $46,000 in property was stolen on campus last year and officers responded to 103 traffic accidents
Milne says police taught 148 crime prevention sessions and responded to 3,500 service calls.
