MURRAY — A cash reward is being offered for information leading to the arrests of two people police say robbed a convenience store and left a longtime clerk there to die from a gunshot wound.
David Marsh, 62, was shot and killed in an armed robbery at Lee Mart in the early morning of March 18. Marsh worked for the convenience store at 5909 S. 700 West for more than 25 years and was beloved by customers and co-workers for his kind and engaging demeanor.
Jimmy Lee, son of store owner Sanh Ly, said Wednesday that $2,000 will be rewarded to the person who comes forward with information that helps police catch those responsible. Mourners raised $1,000 at a vigil held for Marsh and the store is matching those funds, Lee said.
Surveillance video shows what appears to be two masked men, dressed in black hoodies and wearing red bandanas to cover their faces, pressuring Marsh for money in the cash register at 5:37 a.m. Marsh is shown throwing the empty register tray at one of the suspects as they fled. The disguised man turned around and fired at Marsh, hitting him in the upper torso. Marsh died from his injuries Monday.
A GoFundMe account* in Marsh’s name was launched Wednesday evening. Donations for funeral and medical expenses may also be made in person at the store and at U.S. Bank.
