TEMPE, Ariz. — The losing streak to Arizona State continues for Utah as the Sun Devils get a 19-16 win in overtime. And Utah fans are frustrated in the way it turned out.
With the game tied at 16-16, Utah called up kicker Andy Phillips to kick a 35-yard field goal to give the Utes a lead before Arizona State had a chance to score. Phillips missed his first attempt, but the play was called back because Utah called a timeout.
In an rare occurrence, Phillips overcorrected and missed the field goal, giving Arizona State an opportunity to make a field goal to win the game, which they did. The rare miss was something many were shocked about.

Despite the missed attempt, Utah fans quickly supported Phillips, who has missed only two other field goals this season.

While the missed field goal ultimately lead to Utah's overtime loss, many on Twitter blamed the oftentimes conservative play calling and lack of drive on offense for the loss.
The offense did the equivalent of playing prevent defense. What does it do? Prevent you from winning. — Grant Bagby (@GrantTBS) November 2, 2014

> Utah has worst play calling in all of football. Not a Single pass play over 10 yards the entire game. So conservative. The one bright spot on Utah was the defense again, which recorded four sacks, including a big game-saving sack in the fourth quarter to essentially force overtime.
