WASHINGTON CITY, Utah (AP) -- Several Boy Scouts in northern Utah put up hundreds of American flags in neighborhoods today in celebration of Flag Day.
In Ogden, Governor Huntsman led "An Old Glorious Celebration" today at the Newgate Mall.
It's part of a nationwide campaign to promote patriotism and the American flag.
Veterans presented the flag, and unveiled historic flags that will be on display at the mall.
The party ended with free pie and lemonade.
Members of Boy Scout Troop 1764 placed around three-hundred flags in several neighborhoods throughout Washington City and Hurricane.
The Scouts began the project at the beginning of the year. The boys plan to put up the flags for each patriotic holiday.
This year, the Scouts will add an extra day, June 30th. That's the day southern Utah residents will celebrate the return of the Utah National Guard Second Battalion, 222nd Field Artillery.
Local officials have asked residents to fly their flags from today through Independence Day in honor of the troops' return.
