ST. GEORGE — Two motorcyclists were transported to a hospital in serious condition Saturday after being hit by a Jeep near the intersection of 2450 East and Riverside Drive.

The Jeep was traveling east on Riverside Drive when it began to drift toward the center lane, St. George Police Sgt. Jeff Dahlmann said. The driver swerved and hit another vehicle waiting to turn left, and then hit two of three westbound motorcycles.

"He struck one of those motorcycles and caused it to spin out of control, and then he also collided with the second motorcycle," Dahlmann said.

The driver of the second motorcycle was thrown off his bike and sustained severe head trauma. The driver of the first motorcycle appeared to have a broken leg, Dahlmann said.

Both injured bikers were transported by ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center. Dahlmann did not have an updated condition for the men Saturday night.

No one else was injured in the accident, and police still trying to determine what caused the driver of the Jeep to drift out of his lane.

Names of those involved were not released Saturday.
