OGDEN, Utah (AP) — A former teacher and Boy Scout leader in Utah has been sentenced to prison for possession of child pornography.
Second District Judge Ernie Jones on Thursday handed down five concurrent 1- to 15-year prison terms to 62-year-old Kenneth Prince.
Prince, who was a high school science teacher in South Ogden for 29 years and a local Boy Scout leader, pleaded guilty earlier this year to five counts of exploitation of a minor as a result of possessing child pornography.
Another charge of aggravated sexual abuse of a child 30 years ago was dropped as part of his plea deal with prosecutors.
Prince told Jones he was abused by an older relative for an extended period of time beginning at the age of 7.
But the judge said he decided that Prince posed a danger to the community.
