Sam Penrod reporting Questions linger over Sunday's brutal murder of a Lehi woman. Police say Kristy Ragsdale was shot in the parking lot of an LDS chapel by her estranged husband.
The funeral for Kristy is now scheduled for Saturday morning in Lehi, and as her family and friends continue to mourn for her, police are still looking for answers about what happened.
The traumatizing events of Sunday morning still carry painful memories for Kristy's neighborhood. Police are still gathering evidence and investigating what happened when at least 10 shots from a 9mm handgun were fired at her. "We're just finishing up with witnesses, and we're trying to piece together a strong case," explained Lehi Police Sgt. Jeff Swenson.

Formal murder charges against David Ragsdale likely won't be filed until Monday, when he is scheduled to appear in court. "This is a high-profile case, something that we need to put together for the closure of the family and the victim. I mean, we're talking about a domestic family problem where the victim was shot and killed point-blank in a church parking lot," Swenson said.
Meanwhile, a blog site dedicated to Kristy is allowing people who knew her to share memories and thoughts about her tragic death. She grew up in Washington state, and tributes to her are flowing in on the Internet from across the country.

One blogger, who served an LDS mission with Kristy, writes, "I am in shock that something like this could happen to such an amazing girl. She was the most determined and goal-oriented companion I had. She knew who she was and she knew what she wanted out of life, and nothing was going to stop her from getting it."
Another blogger writes, "Kristy could enter a room knowing no one and leave as everyone's friend."
A private prayer service for Kristy's neighborhood is planned later this week to help them cope with the trauma and grief of her death. Her family contacted Eyewitness News today and told us they are planning on issuing a public statement sometime tomorrow.
