(KSL News) -- One of Utah's fastest growing counties will get water from Lake Powell.

Governor Huntsman signed the Lake Powell Pipeline project into law tonight. Crews can now dig a pipeline from Lake Powell to Saint George, designed to meet Washington County's water needs by 2020.

Some water would also go to Cedar City.

The project could cost 400 million dollars. But water conservationists say it's less expensive and more environmentally friendly than taking water from other places.
