PROVO — A new report says one of the fastest growing metro areas nationwide is found right here in Utah.

The software company Pitney Bowes studied 384 metro markets, and then named the Provo-Orem areas as the fastest growing in the country.

The company's Metro Magnets Index shows over the next five years, Provo and Orem will grow by 7.4 percent, adding around 11,000 households. They say that will outpace the other fast-growing areas such as Austin and Fort Hood, Texas.

While Provo and Orem may have a faster growth percentage, the report says the cities adding the most people will be Houston, Atlanta, and Washington DC.

During a slow economy topping a growth list such as this one can be beneficial, as companies look for places to build and expand.

  1. Provo-Orem, UT 7.4%

Cleveland, Ohio should expect just a 0.2 percent increase, according to the study.
