SALT LAKE CITY — Big-name authors are lining up to write books about the Susan Powell story. A handful of books are already in the works.

According to Cox family attorney Anne Bremner, those considering writing books on the topic are:

  • Gregg Olsen
New York Times best-selling author who has written novels and non-fiction books.
  • Ann Rule
    She's a well-known true crime writer.
  • Joe McGinniss
He notoriously moved in next door to Sarah Palin in Wasilla, Alaska and wrote "The Rogue."
  • Isabelle Zehnder
An online writer who has done a lot with the case.

Some of these stories have been in the works for a while. Bremner says Rule actually met with her the day Josh Powell took his own life and the lives of his children. The meeting apparently was already scheduled. Bremner says Rule really struggled for a while on how to proceed.

Bremner says there is a lot of publisher interest in a story that has captivated the country.

"I think people are riveted by it, but also completely repulsed by it," she said. "But I think in some way, they want to see some sense in what happened, to understand what this was, what went wrong."

Jennifer Graves -- Susan's friend and Josh's sister -- is currently writing a book with a co-author. She says hers will be the story somewhat through her eyes. We asked her what she hoped to impart to people.

"I would hope that people come away with the power that they have to make choices and take accountability for what they do," she said. "And also that there's always hope in their situation, no matter where they are."

Graves says she hopes to complete her book this summer or early this fall.
