(KSL News) A man lay pinned underneath a UTA TRAX train this morning at the Meadowbrook Station, located at 188 W. 3900 South.
"[When] fire and police arrived there was a male just behind me in this track, this east side track. He was hit by the train and fell directly between the tracks and was pinned by the train at the time of the accident," explained South Salt Lake Police Officer Gary Keller.
Heavy-rescue crews were able to lift the train to remove the man. He was conscious and taken to the hospital in fair condition. It is unclear why the man was so close to the train.
South Salt Lake Police and UTA are investigating the cause of the accident.
