OGDEN — A 68-year-old man found on Tuesday face down in the hot pots near the mouth of Ogden Canyon has died.

The man, from Salt Lake City, was at the hot springs near the Ogden River with two friends, said Weber County Sheriff's Lt. Mark Lowther.

The man's name was not released by police pending notification of family members.

He was in one hot pot by himself and his friends were in another. About 10:45 a.m., after being in the pools for about an hour, one of the friends found the victim face down in the water. It was unknown how long he had been under the water.

Friends called 911 while attempting CPR. The man was taken to McKay-Dee Hospital Center where he was later pronounced dead.

The cause of the man's death was not known Tuesday.

Lowther said the death was not considered suspicious.
