NORTH SALT LAKE -- Police are investigating how a body ended up near the train tracks in a railway yard.

North Salt Lake Police received report around 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning about a body in the railway yard at 2700 N. Beck St. When police arrived, they located the unclothed body of a male a few feet from the tracks. Police were unable to locate his clothing.

Davis County Crime Scene, the Attorney General's office, and Utah Highway Patrol assisted the North Salt Lake Police Department in the investigation of the scene. Investigators have not yet determined the man's identity -- a feat made harder by the fact he had no clothes on, they said -- or the cause of death.

North Salt Lake Police Department Sgt. Mitch Gwilliam said there is no apparent trauma on the body, and that it's unlikely he was struck by a train.

The yard is described as a remote gated area, with restricted access, and it is unclear if the man died inside the area or was moved there after his death. They are considering his death suspicious.

Anyone with information is asked to call North Salt Lake Police at 801-936-3880.
