WEST MILLCREEK -- A fire in an apartment Sunday evening caused $25,000 in damage and displaced six occupants.
The fire began around 5:40 p.m. in a unit of the Riverbend Apartments at 817 W. 3970 South. Unified Fire Authority responded to the call, and spent about half an hour to get the fire out.
The blaze came from between the floor and ceiling space of apartments, leading officials to believe it was started in the mechanical room of one of the apartments, though they have yet to determine an exact cause. The three-story building has 28 separate units, and no others were damaged.
The two families displaced have been offered housing within the complex.
