(KSL News) -- Vehicle-registration fees could go up in Salt Lake and Davis counties as early as next week.
Officials in both counties are considering adding $10 to the currently yearly fee to go toward road construction.
The Salt Lake County Council gave preliminary approval on Tuesday for the fee increase. They will make a final vote next week.
The increase would generate about $175 million for Salt Lake County over the next 25 years.
Davis County commissioners are also expected to vote on the fee increase during their meeting next Tuesday.
