Gene Kennedy reporting Three snowmobilers are safe this afternoon after rescue crews pulled them out of a canyon in Weber County.
Everyone is in good condition, but one of the snowmobilers suffered frostbite, and will likely need some treatment.
The three spent the night in a canyon near Public Grove Hollow; an area that borders Weber, Cache, and Box Elder counties.
The three are at a search and rescue command post as we speak, getting warm after spending the night in near-freezing temperatures.
Yesterday, their snowmobiles got stuck. They used a cell phone to call a friend. The friend went into the canyon with his own snowmobile to get them out, but no luck.
One of the men managed to walk out of the canyon this morning to find help.
By 9:30, Lifeflight flew in and rescued the other two.
One of the men, 29 year-old Samuel Hatch from Layton, couldn't walk in light of frostbite. The other two people were a father and his 11 year-old boy.
Rescue crews say the three snowmobilers managed to light a fire overnight.
