OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- Officials say a Utah high school principal remains on leave more than a month after a police arrested a 35-year-old assistant swim coach on allegations she had a sexual relationship with a teenage student.

The Standard-Examiner of Ogden reported Wednesday that Ogden School District officials wouldn't say why Ben Lomond High School Principal Ben Smith was on leave, or if and when he would return. They called the case a personnel matter.

Smith declined comment to the newspaper.

The Standard-Examiner obtained a police report showing that investigators probed whether the principal failed to properly report the case.

Police arrested volunteer assistant swim coach Jamie Waite more than a month ago and charged her with felony child sexual abuse involving a 17-year-old male student.

Waite is due in court June 1.
