PROVO — Utah County prosecutors have filed murder and arson charges against the Provo woman they say started an apartment complex fire that left two dead.
Yvette A. Kimber, 45, was charged in 4th District Court Wednesday with two counts of murder and one count of arson, all first-degree felonies.
Each charge carries a possible penalty of life in prison.
Kimber made an initial appearance in court on Wednesday. A judge assigned a public defender to represent her. Kimber has not yet entered a plea. She remains in the Utah County Jail. Bail is set at $100,000.
In court papers, prosecutors contend Kimber intentionally set a fire a March 14 fire at a Provo apartment building that killed Karen Murray and Catherine Crane.
Another hearing is set for March 30.
