(KSL News) The Utah National Guard welcomes a new battalion of soldiers to the state today.
The Guard activated the second battallion of the 211th Aviation Group. The battalion currently has about 500 soldiers in Utah, Iowa and Minnesota.
The soldiers will help respond to state and federal emergencies from fighting wildfires to helping with search and rescue operations.
Two of the companies are scheduled to deploy overseas in the spring of 2006.
