(KSL News) -- An Ogen crossing guard hit by a car today remains in critial condition.

Police say 67-year old Lynn Gilbert was setting up safety cones near Mount Ogden Middle School when it happened this morning.

The driver told police she was distracted by another car. Police say the vehicle was not speeding, and it was dark at the time of the accident.

Principal Brenda Ruffier says 33rd and Harrison is a busy intersetion, but this is the first accident of it's kind.

School administrators had children cross the street at an alternate route so they wouldn't have to see the accident. The middle school also had counselors available on campus to help students through the difficut situation.
