SALT LAKE CITY — The airport exit ramp to I-80 on I-215 will close Thursday at 7 p.m. for maintenance work.
During the closure, traffic needing to connect to I-80 westbound from northbound I-215 will need to use State Route 201 to Bangerter Highway as an alternate. Travelers can use Bangerter or I-15 to travel northbound to connect to I-80 closer to the city.
The Utah Department of Transportation, which announced the necessary closure Wednesday, said those traveling to the Salt Lake International Airport need to allow an extra 15 minutes of travel time to avoid any potential delays caused by this closure and other ramp work near the airport.
The ramp will reopen Friday at 5 a.m.
Department spokesman Adan Carrillo said, "We are just doing some repairs. It's part of the maintenance routine program we have through the state. All these bridges and ramps need to be repaired at some point in time."
American Fork Closure
Construction teams on the Utah County I-15 Corridor Expansion project are scheduled to close I-15 in both directions at the American Fork 500 East interchange from 11 p.m. Thursday to 5:30 a.m. Friday.
Workers will be pouring concrete on the new north bridge decks. The 500 East bridge is one of 63 structures on the I-15 CORE that will be new, rebuilt or modified within the 24-mile project, according to UDOT.
During the closure, northbound travelers will be diverted from Pleasant Grove Boulevard to 2000 West to State Street and to Main Street in American Fork, to reconnect with I-15. Southbound traffic will be diverted through the on- and off-ramps at 500 East.
