Couple arrested for copper theft

SALT LAKE CITY -- Salt Lake City police arrested a couple caught stealing copper wire Friday.

Residents in the area of 400 East and Redonodo Avenue reported the man and woman cutting copper off power poles. When police arrived, the pair ran but were found hiding a few blocks away.

Police say the two are responsible for stripping seven poles of copper.

Rocky Mountain Power is still trying to determine the extent of the damage.
