FARMINGTON -- Prosecutors in Davis County have filed charges against a woman for trying to hurt her children. The woman, Reggie Peck, has faced similar allegations in the past.

Peck appeared in 2nd District Court in Farmington on Wednesday on two counts of child abuse and surreptitious administration of a substance. Prosecutors allege she drugged her daughters, ages 3 and 4, and then cut one of their wrists.

An arrest warrant says Peck was in her car in South Weber on Aug. 30 when she gave her kids prescription drugs to sedate them to a level of unconsciousness. She allegedly then cut the wrist of one of them with a box cutter, causing the wrist to bleed.

The arrest warrant says when officers approached her, she held one of her daughters in one arm and the box cutter to her throat, begging deputies to shoot her. As deputies tried to take the box cutter from her, she began to slice her throat. Her children saw it all.

Last year, Peck put a prescription antidepressant in her children's bottles. She made a plea in abeyance in that case and agreed to mental health court requirements, which included seeing a therapist and taking prescription medication.

Peck's estranged husband told KSL that Peck has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder in the past. He hopes she gets the help she needs.

Davis County prosecutors declined to comment on this case.

Peck is being held in the Davis County Jail without bail and has another court appearance next month.

The girls are with their father, who says they are doing fine.
