SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- For the first time in its 155-year history, the Utah State fair is going smoke-free.
Utah State Fair spokeswoman Denise Allen says fair organizers adopted a nonsmoking policy because of second-hand smoke health concerns. She says many public events and venues are adopting similar policies.
To accommodate fair-goers who do smoke, Allen say some areas of the Utah State Fairpark grounds will be set aside as smoking areas.
The fair runs Sept. 9-19.
Allen says the fair's 11-day attendance has held steady over the last five years at about 325,000.
Fair admission is $9. Children ages 6 to 12 get in for $7 and children 5 and under are free. Senior tickets are also $7.
