MAGNA -- Investigators are calling a fire at an abandoned building in Magna arson.

Fire officials received reports around 2:30 p.m. Sunday of heavy smoke coming from the old Salt Lake County Fire Training and Logistics Center near 8400 West and 3500 South. When crews arrived, they found flames in multiple areas throughout the building.

It took firefighters from Unified Fire and the West Valley City Fire Department 40 minutes to put out the blaze. Investigators found combustibles that had been lit in three separate spots.

"It is an abandoned building," said Capt. Brad Taylor with the Unified Fire Department. "It has no power to it, no utilities. So I think it will be a pretty quick investigation."

Taylor says the building has been abandoned for at least eight years. Investigators say no one saw anybody enter or leave the building around the time of the fire, so they have no suspects.
