(KSL News) -- Lowell elementary school was locked down today when a man in a nearby neighborhood had a stand-off with police.

The man was upset about something and started yelling at people in the street. Police responded and the man ran into his apartment.

One officer spotted a gun inside so the nearby elementary school locked down. About an hour and a half later negotiators talked the man out of his apartment.

He's now being treated by Valley Mental Health.
