MILLVILLE, Utah (AP) -- Thousands of dead honeybees have been found around hives in northern Utah and the hobbyist beekeepers suspect pesticide crop dusting killed them.
Utah's Department of Agriculture will investigate the sudden bee die-off in Millville, which is about 25 miles northeast of Brigham City. State bee inspector Danielle Downey said Thursday that the bees will be examined to determine if pesticide is to blame.
Millville beekeepers Travis Johnson and Paul Gregory say they suspect whatever a crop duster let loose on fields in Millville is to blame. The dead bees were discovered Tuesday, a day after the crop dusting.
