Chevron officials hope the flush will help wash any residual oil from the creek banks downstream, where it will be captured by booms and vacuums.
During the flush, residents should expect higher water levels for close to two hours. The stream could rise as much as 12 inches during that time.
Officials are encouraging people, particularly children, to stay away from the creek during the flush.
The June 12 spill leaked an estimated 33,000 gallons of crude oil into Salt Lake City waterways. Chevron was cited for the spill Wednesday.
