Several Events Planned for Earth Day

(KSL News) Sunday is Earth Day. Several events and activities are planned to mark the occasion.

Today, more than 100 third graders will help plant trees with the Army Reserve.

Several activities are planned for Saturday. The Bend-in-the-River project will replant the natural habitat of the Jordan River from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Hogle Zoo is throwing a "Party for the Planet" from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Park City is hosting an energy film festival from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the City Library and Education Building.

On Sunday, Liberty Park will host the free "Earth Jam" concert from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.

And statewide, the Utah Department of Environmental Quality encourages everyone to take advantage of free disposal of mercury products, like old thermometers or thermostats. They can be dropped off at local health departments throughout the state.
