(KSL News) Undercover police officers accuse a U.S. Air Force officer of trying to entice a minor over the Internet.

It turned out that the 15-year-old "girl" he thought he was chatting with was really an adult undercover agent.

Authorities arrested Maj. Reinaldo Canton this week at Layton Hills Mall when he showed up for a meeting with the girl.

Canton works in space development at an Air Force base in New Mexico, but came to Hill Air Force Base for temporary duty. Prosecutors say Canton had a series of chats, sent photographs of himself, and suggested going to a hotel to have sex.

Court papers show Canton denied he would have had any sexual contact with the girl. He said he went to meet her to see how Internet safety programs work, and would have told her that the Internet is a "scary" place.
