SOUTH SALT LAKE -- Charges are now filed against a man accused of causing a fatal crash on State Street in March.

Prosecutors say on March 1, 50-year-old Efrain Torres ran a stop sign near 3500 South and State Street and hit a car waiting to turn left in the middle of the street. The man in that car was killed.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that witnesses told police Torres' truck was traveling at more than 60 miles an hour when the crash occurred.

Torres is now charged with negligent homicide and could face up to a year in jail if convicted.
