(KSL News) As we know, Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson is very outspoken on a variety of issues: the environment, the war, President Bush. Even so, he gets high marks from his constituents.
Dan Jones and Associates conducted a poll this week for Eyewitness News and the Deseret Morning News. Jones surveyed 413 Salt Lake City residents this past Tuesday and Wednesday.
The poll found that 59 percent of those questioned approve of the job Mayor Anderson is doing. Thirty-eight percent do not like how he's performing his duties.
The mayor has made a number of appearances both here and in the nation's capitol, participating in anti-war rallies and calling for the president and vice president to be impeached. When asked about those issues, Salt Lake residents responded this way: Forty-one percent felt it's OK for the mayor to express his opinions that way. But 54 percent oppose Mayor Anderson's call for impeachment.
Residents were also asked if they feel it's appropriate for a sitting mayor to be active in national and international issues. Fifty-six percent say yes, it's OK. Thirty-six percent say no.
This poll has a margin of error of plus or minus five percent.
Mayor Anderson is not seeking re-election this year, but there are plenty of people who want his job. Tomorrow we'll have poll numbers on how they're doing this early in the campaign.
