SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Delegates to the Utah Republican convention will consider a resolution criticizing a health care bill sponsored by U.S. Sen. Bob Bennett, who is in danger of not making it into a June GOP primary.
Bennett has co-sponsored a bipartisan bill to mandate health insurance coverage, although Bennett says states would be able to opt out.
The resolution directs the state party's chairman to inform Utah's federal delegation that GOP delegates don't want them to support any proposal that would impose mandates.
Bennett is seeking a fourth term, but is facing seven challengers from his right.
The resolution won't be considered until delegates have already selected either a nominee or the candidates who will face off in a primary.
