(KSL News) Working under the banner of the Common Ground Initiative, gay rights advocates are trying to pass five bills during this legislative session to protect gay and transgender citizens.

On the other side of the issue is a group called the Constitutional Defense of Marriage Alliance. Today that group sent out a news release encouraging the Utah State Legislature to oppose any legislation that would give marriage-type benefits to individuals who are not married.

This evening, conservative activist Gayle Ruzicka and Sen. Scott McCoy, D-Salt Lake City, joined us to discuss the issue in Talking Point.
