EVANSTON, Wyoming — A small plane crashed on I-80 about 8 miles east of Evanston on Thursday evening, officials said.
The Experimental BF9-2 plane’s engine stalled and the pilot, who was the only occupant, tried to land on the interstate just before 6 p.m. Thursday, according to Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Allen Kenitzer.
During the attempted landing, the plane clipped a semi truck and flipped over, Kenitzer said. The pilot was not injured, Uinta County Fire and Ambulance officials said on Facebook.
There were no reports of injuries on the ground, Kenitzer said.
The plane was on a flight from Longmont, Colorado to Bountiful, Utah, Kenitzer said. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will continue investigating the crash, he said.
