Outlook
Rain will move in tonight and will continue at times through tomorrow morning, mainly across northern and southern Utah. Heaviest rain will be in southern Utah will 2-4" possible in the Pine Valley Mountains area. Lower areas, like St. George will see rainfall totals of .25"-.60", and Cedar City could see up to in inch. Northern Utah will be mostly quiet throughout Christmas Day with about a 30% chance for a few isolated showers. Our best chance of rain will move in Friday afternoon or evening along a couple front. This will bring a quick drop of rain and mountain snow through Saturday morning. Mountain snow accumulations by Saturday morning look to range from 8-16" in southern Utah and 6-12" in northern Utah with locally up to 18" in some spots. There is a low chance for some snow to fall early Saturday morning, any accumulations would be less than an inch and limited to the benches. A few models now have hinted at lake effect potential thanks to a passing wave of energy Saturday night into Sunday morning. This is something we need to monitor! Record warmth will continue tomorrow, then temperatures fall back to normal as we head into the weekend. - Devan Masciulli, KSL Weather 12.24.25
