Wizards pull out 0-0 tie with Real Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Kansas City goalie Kevin Hartman made seven saves and the Wizards survived a flurry of Real Salt Lake scoring opportunities in 0-0 tie on Saturday night. "That's really my job," Hartman said, "to get clean sheets and give our team an opportunity to get wins."

The Wizards nearly won it as the game entered stoppage time, but Real Salt Lake's Nick Rimando dove to his left to push away a blast by Kerry Zavagnin. "Lucky I got a finger on it," Rimando said.

Kansas City (3-4-3) was playing its sixth straight road game since a scoreless tie against Houston on April 12. The Wizards were 0-3-1 in their last four games. Kansas City had its best scoring chance early, when Davy Arnaud ripped a shot off the crossbar from about 18 yards out.

Real Salt Lake (3-5-3) fired off 19 shots, including 12 in the first half and several right in front of the goal, but could not get anything past Hartman. "We did everything right except put the ball away," Real Salt Lake's Kyle Beckerman said.
