Serena claims 22nd Grand Slam title...Sanchez tries to continue strong run...Froome wins at Tour de France

LONDON (AP) — Serena Williams has captured her seventh Wimbledon singles title with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Angelique Kerber. That gives Williams 22 Grand Slam singles titles, tying Steffi Graf for the Open era record. Williams had 13 aces, won 38 of 43 points on her first serve and was not broken in the match.

TORONTO (AP) — Toronto's Aaron Sanchez tries to improve on his 9-1 mark when he looks for his fourth straight win this afternoon against Detroit. The right-hander is 3-0 with a 1.61 ERA in his last four starts. He hasn't lost since April 22 against Oakland.

CHICAGO (AP) — Atlanta's Julio Teheran (HOO'-lee-oh teh-RAHN') has been cleared to make his regular start this afternoon against the White Sox after being treated for an infection due to an ingrown hair on his right thigh. Teheran is 3-7 but with a strong 2.72 ERA as he prepares to square off against White Sox left-hander Jose Quintana.

CHICAGO (AP) — White Sox pitcher Carlos Rodon (roh-DAHN') is headed to the 15-day disabled list retroactive to Wednesday with a sprained left wrist. The left-hander was tagged for six runs and a season high-tying 12 hits over five innings in a 9-0 loss to the New York Yankees Tuesday to fall to 2-7.

BAGNERES-DE-LUCHON, France (AP) — Defending champion Chris Froome has won the eighth stage of the Tour de France and claimed the yellow jersey of the overall leader. Crouched on top of his handlebars for extra aerodynamics, he opened a 20-second lead on the way to his sixth stage win.
