ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Shawn Anderson scored 16 points and Navy topped Holy Cross 65-60 on Saturday.

Anderson was 6 of 12 from the floor, grabbed five rebounds and had three assists and a steal. Tilman Dunbar added 11 points for the Midshipmen (10-5, 1-1 Patriot).

Robert Champion led Holy Cross (6-7, 1-1) with 20 points and seven rebounds. Karl Charles had 16 points and Malachi Alexander added 10.

Champion's layup 4:20 into the second half put Holy Cross up 31-30. Navy responded with a seven-point spurt, punctuated by Tim Abruzzo's 3-pointer. Champion hit a 3-pointer with five seconds left to draw Holy Cross to within three, but Abruzzo made a pair form the line to ice it.

Navy closed the first half with a 9-4 run — holding the Crusaders to one basket and two free throws over the last 4:39 — to lead 24-22 at the break.
